Greetings from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, INDIA. I am delighted to share that BHU under the Auspices of the Association of Carbohydrate Chemists & Technologists of India (ACCTI) is hosting ‘CARBO-XXXIX: International Conference on Emerging Trends in Glycoscience and Glycotechnology” from 21-23 November 2025. The Association organizes conferences every year at various Institutions in different parts of the country, where total 38 Carbohydrate Conferences have been successfully held at institutes e.g., IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Chennai, IISER-Kolkata, ISCB-Kolkata, CDRI-Lucknow, CFTRI-Mysore, IICT-Hyderabad, CIAB-Mohali, NIPER-Mohali, FRI-Dehradun, CTCRI-Trivendrum, ATIRI-Ahmedabad, Lachoo Memorial College of Pharmacy-Jodhpur, DTU-Delhi, University of Delhi, University of Lucknow, BHU, H P University-Shimla, University of Jodhpur, Pondicherry University, Bhavnagar University, SPU-Gujarat, IACS-Kolkata, RRL-Thiruvananthapuram, and recently in 2024 at the Gauhati University, Assam.
The 39th such conference titled ‘CARBO-XXXIX: International Conference on Emerging Trends in Glycoscience and Glycotechnology’ is going to be organized at The Department of Chemistry, ISc, BHU, Varanasi, India from 21 to 23 November 2025. The conferences are attended by Scientists, Academicians, and Industrialists from India and abroad. The motivation behind the organization of such conferences is to create a platform where young carbohydrate researchers get exposure to cutting-edge science and technologies in the area through lectures by eminent experts from the country and abroad. To encourage sustained development in the broad area of carbohydrates, the Association gives various awards to established researchers and young talents in the field of glycoscience and glycotechnology. About the Department of Chemistry, I.Sc., B.H.U.
The Department of Chemistry is one of those few Departments that were established soon after the inception of the BHU in 1916 by Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji. Over the period, the Department has been nurtured under the able guidance of eminent educationists like Prof. Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, Prof. Bawa Kartar Singh, Prof. S. S. Joshi, and Padmabhusan Prof. Gurubaksh Singh. ‘Bharat Ratna’ Prof. C. N. R. Rao, Dr. Y. Nayudamma, Prof. V. Krishnan, Prof. P Natarajan, Prof. Vijay Nair, Prof. J. S. Yadav, Prof. D. Basavaiah, ‘Padma Shri’ Prof. V. K. Singh, Prof. S. Verma to name a few, are notable alumni of this department. In addition to the quality of teaching, faculty members are actively pursuing cutting-edge research in frontier areas of chemistry, resulting in over 750 contributions (since 2019) in high-repute journals. Faculties are fully engaged in projects funded by various agencies, including DST, SERB, CSIR, UGC, MHRD, DAE, DBT, DRDO, BRNS, SPARC, and DMSRDE. The department has received special assistance under COSIST, DST-FIST, and UGC-SAP and is a 'Centre of Advanced Study' with a state-of-the-art equipment facility. Banaras Hindu University

How to Reach Varanasi
By Road
Varanasi boasts a well-developed road network, making it easily accessible via national and state highways. Regular bus services operate from major cities such as Delhi, Agra, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Ranchi, and Patna, ensuring convenient travel options.
The main bus terminal, Chaudhary Charan Singh Bus Stand (Varanasi Cantt Bus Station), serves as the city's primary road transport hub.

By Train
Varanasi is a major railway junction offering extensive rail connectivity across India. The city is served by multiple railway stations, including:
